Hi, I’m Lamarshane! Born in Blytheville, Arkansas, I spent my early childhood in Vicksburg, Mississippi, surrounded by family and delicious home-cooked meals. It was here that my passion for the culinary arts first sparked, thanks to my Aunt Lois. I loved watching her bake cakes and prepare for family gatherings, and holidays were I often helped her in the kitchen. She worked at a bakery, & I was convinced she owned it—I admired every moment spent learning from her.
In high school, after moving to Jackson, Mississippi, I continued to develop my other love—music. I graduated from Jim Hill High School in 2008, having sung in the choir, played football and soccer throughout my school years. Music became a major part of my life, & under the artist name Kodac but now Swaywai, I pursued my dreams in the industry moving to California. While working at the Monarch Beach Resort in DanaPoint, California I was luck enough to work with some of best chefs from all across the world.
Amidst my musical journey, there was always another passion quietly waiting in the wings: cooking. That’s how “Chefing With Lamarshane” was born—my way of sharing one of my favorite hobbies with the world. This YouTube channel, now complemented by this website, is where I combine my love for cooking and creativity, bringing you vibrant, flavorful recipes that are as fun to make as they are to eat.
